Time For Drama

- Anton D. Javier Deputy Editor

here’s no better time than now to celebrate the drama that jewellery brings. Across the globe, jewellery brands, both big and small, are flexing their creative muscles to show the world that creativity cannot – and will not – be contained.

In the past month alone, high jewellery creations from some of the most iconic brands have been unveiled, bringing with them colour, fantasy, and enchantment, allowing us to momentarily escape the realities of a world in flux.

We begin with Mikimoto’s high jewellery pieces, where the Japanese brand’s craftsmen took inspiration from Japan’s cultural treasures, as well as the fleeting beauty each season brings (page 30). Meanwhile, Boucheron, a brand known for femininity and subtlety, surprises all of us with the Holographique Collection, comprised of extremely colourful pieces in futuristic shapes (page 50).

We also shine the spotlight on one-of-a-kind pendants that boast sculptural forms (page 56), our personal selections from the high jewellery collections of brands we all know and love (page 40), the trendiest pieces to come out of the Las Vegas Couture show (page 62), as well as something that hits closer to home – Perenakan-inspired jewellery by Caratell (page 36).

There is a lot to take in this issue, so sit back, relax, flip through the pages, and let the drama unfold.
