In town camping

-

Follow the uphill walk from Shau Kei Wan to Chai Wan and you will pass several declared monuments and the Lei Yue Mun Park Holiday Camp, the only governmentowned site open to the public. After the Second World War, several of the former British Army barracks were retained, repurposed and turned into parks, as well as the holiday camp site in which local residents can use via online booking. Set against a distinct military backdrop, many lodges have a capacity of 200 people, with views overlooking Lei Yue Mun, along with a wealth of leisure facilities such as a rope course, gardening and barbecue areas. More of Hong Kong's wartime heritage can be seen further up the slope and even further takes you to the peak where Sai Wan Battery Park is located. From there, you can savour sweeping views of Hong Kong Island East and some of the best views of Hong Kong's sunset if you time it right.
