Tips for Placing Greenery in Small Homes
Nothing says you care about the details than fresh florals and plants in the space you call home. Explore the local flower market and you will find helpful vendors and competitive prices. Start by purchasing flowers on a weekly basis and ask questions to familiarise yourself with what you like. Additionally, if your space has a terrace, balcony, or even a ledge you might have found yourself the perfect place for a mini garden but make sure that this area has plenty of sunlight. Invest in small pots and indoor plants; planting herbs can be a great start and seeds are available at your local florist and are very affordable and mint, parsley, chives, and basil are ideal.
Once you're comfortable or have the space, graduate to larger pots; invest in clay or ceramic pots that appeal to you. Next, you can plant thyme, cilantro and oregano. Growing your own herbs will help you save on groceries but also help reduce waste, as these will not come wrapped in plastic like at most stores.
Some plants can improve the air quality of the home, as well as remove harmful chemicals in the air. Such is the case of the English Ivy, which needs sunlight, the Reed Palm, for example, prefers partial sun or shade and removes benzene from the air. For beginners, a Mother-in-law's Tongue is ideal, as it can survive under harsh conditions, with a variety of light and temperatures, but be careful not to overwater it. Finally, since not everyone has a green thumb, air plants and succulents are very easy to care for.
