Situated on the east side of the New Territories, facing Port Shelter, Sai Kung has a number of public piers.

Island hopping is one of the main activities for tourists and day-trippers, with numerous ferry and boat rental services along the pier that can take you to some of the most magical islands in the area. A short, 15-minute ferry ride away lies Yim Tin Tsai, a small island that once housed a local village for hundreds of years before it was abandoned in the 1990s. Former residents left behind a treasure trove of relics, including St Joseph’s Chapel, a Hong Kong Grade III historic building that has received multiple awards from the UNESCO for its conservation efforts. In addition, the island also hosts various arts exhibitions to help visitors better understand the local history and culture. Another option is board a kaito at Sai Kung Public Pier and arrive at Sharp Island (also just 15 minutes away). Sharp Island is home to some of Hong Kong’s most beautiful beaches, equipped with barbecue facilities as well as Kiu Tsui Country Park. Kau Sai Chau Island, on the other hand, is home to historic monument Hung Shing Temple, and a fishing club in Kau Sai Wan that is perfect for a family fun day out.
