CHA BEI

-

Rendered in soft pastel tones, dreamy marble and luxurious fabrics, Cha Bei is the epitome of feminine elegance. The name refers to the Mandarin pronounciation for ‘teacup’ and, indeed, tea is one of Cha Bei’s signature offerings. A global menu crisscrossing culinary borders includes dishes ranging from lobster bisque with crispy rice to aloha poke bowls and duck leg confit. The Cha Bei salad is an original mix of seasonal leaves, julienned green mango, quinoa, toasted almonds and an expertly judged coconut dressing that is just the right amount of sweet. Of course, Cha Bei is a hotspot for afternoon tea as well, and passersby will find it hard to walk past the display of prettily constructed cakes that are made on site—a Black Forest gateau was deliciously balanced—without stopping. Since it’s billed as a lifestyle café, the front section of the venue sells fun products ranging from cheeky greetings cards to doughnut-shaped cushions to cocktail-flavoured gummies, all curated by founder Joanna Lui.
