Chart­ing T.Din­ing’s evo­lu­tion in the new age of gas­tron­omy

Hong Kong Tatler has pub­lished an an­nual din­ing guide since 1984—the es­sen­tial di­rec­tory for food and drink in Hong Kong and Ma­cau. More than 30 years later, the pub­li­ca­tion re­ceived a ma­jor re­vamp at the end of 2017, and was un­veiled at our big­gest restau­rant awards night ever

There re­ally is no other event like it—a night when hun­dreds of Hong Kong and Ma­cau’s top chefs, F&B pro­fes­sion­als and food lovers gather to­gether to cel­e­brate the achieve­ments of the in­dus­try’s most tal­ented names. Com­bine that with a stun­ning venue year af­ter year, free-flow cham­pagne and top-notch canapes, and you have the T.Din­ing Best Restau­rants Awards—an an­nual event that has grown to be­come a firm fix­ture on the scene.

In 2017, Hong Kong Tatler made the step to re­vamp the printed restau­rant guide, trans­form­ing it from a sim­ple pocket-sized list­ings book­let to a full-fledged life­style mag­a­zine, com­bin­ing sto­ries fo­cused on the lo­cal din­ing scene and the tastemak­ers driv­ing the culi­nary zeit­geist, as well as more than 200 up­dated restau­rant and bar re­views. To cel­e­brate, we hosted an epic soirée that high­lighted all that is great about din­ing in Hong Kong and Ma­cau right now, and the peo­ple who make it hap­pen.

Hosted at the newly opened Kerry Ho­tel in Hung Hom, the event on Novem­ber 16, 2017 drew more than 600 guests who came to­gether to cel­e­brate the launch of the new guide, and to hear the re­sults of the 2018 awards. As al­ways, it was a great op­por­tu­nity for chefs, restau­ra­teurs and in­dus­try pro­fes­sion­als to catch up with their peers and cel­e­brate each oth­ers’ achieve­ments. Spe­cial guests in­cluded Asia’s Best Fe­male Chef 2016 Mar­garita Fores, who wasted no time con­grat­u­lat­ing her friends and col­lab­o­ra­tors in Hong Kong, and a host of in­ter­na­tional me­dia friends from Sin­ga­pore, China, Tai­wan and the Philip­pines.
