www.tate.com.hk It is surely no co­in­ci­dence that Tate Din­ing Room shares its name with one of the world’s most renowned gal­leries as ev­ery el­e­ment of your din­ing ex­pe­ri­ence here— the food, the dé­cor, the ser­vice— is a work of art. Chef Vicky Lau’s blend of Euro­pean and Asian culi­nary in­flu­ences has evolved in so­phis­ti­ca­tion and com­plex­ity over the years, re­sult­ing in her cur­rent eight-course tast­ing menu of po­etic “Odes” to in­gre­di­ents, from deca­dent Mayura beef to hum­ble Chi­nese yam. The lat­ter dish is a prime ex­am­ple of how Lau lay­ers flavours and tex­tures, with earthy yam, smoked eel, silky cauliflower cream and rich Os­se­tra caviar all work­ing to­gether har­mo­niously. Tate’s in­te­rior is straight out of Wes An­der­son film, a de­signer’s dream of blush pink, mar­ble and gold, with a myr­iad of gor­geous de­tails ev­ery­where you look—the per­fect set­ting for each exquisitely-plated dish that ar­rives at your ta­ble. The wine list too is care­fully-cu­rated with help­ful tast­ing notes, a col­lab­o­ra­tion with Master of Wine Jean­nie Cho Lee that in­cludes many or­ganic and bio­dy­namic choices. Ser­vice mean­while is ex­em­plary, be­ing per­son­able, knowl­edge­able and al­ways will­ing to go the ex­tra mile—any place that of­fers ex­tra pe­tit-fours is a win­ner in our book.
