National Wildlife Board’s (NWB) directive of no construction or industries in a 10 km radius of sanctuaries and national park and asserted that their boundary be treated as the eco-sensitive area (ESA) with economic activities should be banned up to 20 kms have given more complication than Forest Land issue. The Environment and Forest Ministry has decided to get reexamined 650 national parks and sanctuaries. But the order of NWB is still in offing and all the permissions within 10 kms of such sanctuaries ban any kind of construction activities. Goa and Sikkim already approached the ministry and have got filed the objections to this effect. But major areas of Thane Ghodbunder Road, Kalyan, Dombivali, Shil phata, Undri in Pune and many part of Nashik are badly affected. Though revenue record may not show the such reservation but the revenue department and Forest department are preparing themselves for major demolition drive in these areas.
