saluting the year of the snake

Adorn - - OFF THE SHELF - Available at Carrera y Carrera, Spain

One of the most globally renowned jewellery firms, Carrera y Carrera of Spain, dedicated two statement pieces in honour of the slithering creature, the snake, in its already existing Bestiario collection. The gold jewellery pieces are characterised by sinuous forms representing the snake and at the same time showcasing the supreme skills of master craftsmen.

The Serpiente bracelet symbolises duality symbolic of this animal – the opposing feelings of the worldly and the mundane, the sacred and the profane. The bracelet narrates a tale of two snakes – one highlighted with a line of white diamonds and the other with brown diamonds – engaged in a battle. Hidden inside both snakes and directly in contact with the wearer’s skin are two rubies placed at heart level, symbolizing the animal's strength and fortitude. The technical marvel is composed of 30 individual components and took six months to craft it.

The Serpiente yellow gold ring in the form of a snake holding the green quartz freezes a moment of the reptile’s position and perspective just before an attack. The life-like ring is filled with raw energy.
