Lebanese designer Dina Kamal is known for her jewellery’s beige hues. Using brushed, textured and polished gold, she had been busy giving signet and pinky rings a contemporary makeover. This time, she has turned her attention to the ears: the new collections for her DK01 line are a series of hoop earrings – Tribal and Labyrinth. “I’ve always been fascinated by the Greek story of the Labyrinth, created by Daedalus, and the Minotaur: the part man part bull, who dwelt in the centre of the Labyrinth. As a structure, it is conceptually and physically very compelling!” she says. The Beirut-based designer chose a special degradation of colour and blackening technique for the Labyrinth earrings to bring attention to light and shadow within the circles. A natural princess-cut white diamond, set in the centre, accents the blackened beige gold hoops. The Tribal hoops in 18-karat brushed beige gold is also available in versions set with brilliant-cut diamonds, accented with black diamonds and blackened brushed gold as well as plain gold. Time to script a personal hoop story.
