Deepa Gurnani is an avantgarde luxury accessories label, founded by New Yorkbased designer couple Deepa Gurnani and Jay Lakhani. An alumnus of London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Deepa started her career by beading high-end pieces for leading couturiers such as Alexander McQueen, Emanuel Ungaro, Fendi and Marjan Pejoski.

Deepa imbibed the couture standards of quality and finish, and in 2006, co-created the Deepa Gurnani label with her husband, to introduce unusual beading and embroidery techniques in her creations.

“India’s finest artisans embroider the collections using techniques passed down through generations. Our aim is to keep the exquisite art of traditional hand embroidery alive, and we also endeavour to educate our artisans in new techniques and innovations,” says Deepa.

IN THIS ISSUE: In Style Quotient, we showcase Deepa Gurnani’s hand-embroidered and embellished one-off creations teamed with freeflowing striking ensembles by Lola By Suman B.
