Award-winning UAE-based jewellery designer and gemmologist, Vinita Michael, presents the Flights of Fantasy collection, unifying traditional and contemporary craftsmanship. She looks to the past to move forward. “The craftsmanship and surface ornamentations explore the limitless possibilities of the metallic surface and are inspired by age-old metal craft techniques from the Indian subcontinent, such as enamelling, ligree, fretwork, repousse and chasing,” she notes, adding, “I was inspired by the falcon, a highly revered symbol in several ancient cultures that represents wisdom and fearlessness. It took close to ve months to design and craft this piece, and it is undoubtedly my most ambitious design to date.”

At the heart of the collection is a one-off clutch that can be deconstructed and worn as a two- nger ring, a pair of oversized earrings, a cuff and a pendant necklace with a tassel detail. The collection extends to 22 magni cent pieces crafted in sterling silver and set with crystals from Swarovski, and is dressed in copper tones with ivory, cream and white opal that contrast beautifully against jet black and blush rose hues. We bet these jewels are hard to ignore.
