STATUE OF EXCELLENCE
‘WINGS INDIA 2018’ was organised by FICCI jointly with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India (AAI). The theme of the four-day biennial event this year was ‘India – Global Aviation Hub’. The event was organised at AAI’S Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad. Shri K. T. Rama Rao, Minister for IT E&C, MAUD, Industries & Commerce, Government of Telangana, inaugurated the event.
Shri R. N. Choubey, Secretary, Civil Aviation was also present on the inaugural day and emphasised that the Government is committed to connecting the distant cities and towns of the country to increase regional connectivity across India. Shri Sandip Somany, Sr. Vice President, FICCI, said that RCS-UDAN merits a special mention. It provides greater connectivity to under-served and unserved airports of the country. Shri B. S. Bhullar, Director General, DGCA also graced the occasion. Smt. Usha Padhee, Jt. Secretary, MOCA delivered the vote of thanks. During the inaugural session, a white paper and exhibitors directory were unveiled by the dignitaries.
The four-day event welcomed the presence of 125 exhibitors and 35 CEOS. WINGS INDIA 2018 also witnessed representation from 10 countries – USA, Japan, UK, Russia, Singapore, France, Germany, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Italy and Iran. Besides, 15 aircraft by ATR, Honda Trujet, Gulfstream, Boeing, Embraer, Dassault, Club One Air, Aerotek, Zoom Air, Air India, NAL and others were also showcased for static display. Besides the conference and exhibition, roundtables on tourism, cargo, logistics and skills along with G2B and B2B meetings were scheduled. More than 300 B2B meetings were held during the course of the event.
AAI participated in the event in a grand manner by offering its venue for
the programme along with providing logistical support for organising the event successfully. AAI has also showcased its achievements, projects, training establishments and other merits by erecting a stall in the area measuring 36 Sq. m. The AAI stall was inaugurated formally by Shri Anuj Aggarwal, Member (HR), AAI, on March 8, 2018, and the same was visited by Shri K.T. Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for IT E&C, MAUD, Industries & Commerce, Government of Telangana, Shri Jayant Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Smt. Usha Padhee, Jt. Secretary, MOCA, Shri V. P. Agrawal, Ex-chairman, AAI, Shri Ruby Lal, Ex-member (Operations), AAI, along with several other dignitaries from the aviation fraternity. The display panels of the stall were appreciated by all. The AAI stall covered the RCS-UDAN scheme of the Government of India, the training infrastructure of AAI, GAGAN, CATFM, ACI-ASQ rating awarded to AAI Airports, R&D Centre of AAI, recently inaugurated airport terminals of AAI, AAICLAS and others. The theme and design of the AAI stall was deeply appreciated by the audience. The ATC Tower designed in the stall gathered special attention attracting many visitors to AAI’S stall.
The event was a grand success attracting global aviation enthusiasts and accommodating fruitful dialogue on the future of aviation.
