Fire breaks out at spin­ning mill in Bangladesh

In yet an­other mishap in the gar­ment and tex­tile in­dus­try of Bangladesh, a fire broke out at a spin­ning mill at BSCIC area of Kon­abari, Gazipur, a gar­ment man­u­fac­tur­ing hub, dur­ing the wee hours of March 5, 2018.

The fire orig­i­nated some­where on the ground floor of Kader Syn­thetic Fi­bres Fac­tory, a build­ing that is two-storeyed in height, at around 2:00 am. Later, it spread to other ar­eas of the fac­tory. Akhterzuz­za­man Li­ton of Gazipur Unit Fire Ser­vice and Civil De­fence, re­port­edly main­tained that nine fire-fight­ing units brought the fire un­der con­trol at around 8:15 am. No one was in­jured as the fac­tory was closed in the night, he men­tioned. Ac­cord­ing to pri­mary re­ports, scores of threads, cot­ton and ma­chin­ery were gut­ted in the fire. The rea­son be­hind the fire could not be as­cer­tained im­me­di­ately. The fire spread out quickly through­out the fac­tory as it was filled with syn­thetic thread and cot­ton. He added that the fire­fight­ers are work­ing to find out the rea­son be­hind the fire break­out. No­body from the fac­tory au­thor­ity was avail­able for com­ments in this re­gard.
