Fire breaks out at spinning mill in Bangladesh
In yet another mishap in the garment and textile industry of Bangladesh, a fire broke out at a spinning mill at BSCIC area of Konabari, Gazipur, a garment manufacturing hub, during the wee hours of March 5, 2018.
The fire originated somewhere on the ground floor of Kader Synthetic Fibres Factory, a building that is two-storeyed in height, at around 2:00 am. Later, it spread to other areas of the factory. Akhterzuzzaman Liton of Gazipur Unit Fire Service and Civil Defence, reportedly maintained that nine fire-fighting units brought the fire under control at around 8:15 am. No one was injured as the factory was closed in the night, he mentioned. According to primary reports, scores of threads, cotton and machinery were gutted in the fire. The reason behind the fire could not be ascertained immediately. The fire spread out quickly throughout the factory as it was filled with synthetic thread and cotton. He added that the firefighters are working to find out the reason behind the fire breakout. Nobody from the factory authority was available for comments in this regard.
