HanesBrands' en­vi­ron­men­tal at­tain­ments earn 9th con­sec­u­tive En­ergy Star Award

HanesBrands, a lead­ing mar­keter of ev­ery­day ba­sic in­ner­wear and ac­tivewear ap­parel un­der world­class brands in the Amer­i­cas, Europe and Asia-Pa­cific, has re­ceived the US En­vi­ron­men­tal Pro­tec­tion Agency En­ergy Star Part­ner of the Year Award for En­vi­ron­men­tal Ex­cel­lence for the ninth con­sec­u­tive year.

Hanes, the only ap­parel com­pany to be honoured for sus­tained ex­cel­lence by the EPA En­ergy

Star pro­gramme in its 26-year his­tory, con­tin­ues to demon­strate that com­pa­nies from all in­dus­tries can make a dif­fer­ence in en­ergy con­ser­va­tion, car­bon emis­sions re­duc­tion and en­vi­ron­men­tal sus­tain­abil­ity.

Al­ler­gan, The Boe­ing Com­pany, Col­gate-Pal­mo­live Com­pany, Gen­eral Mo­tors Com­pany and Raytheon are among oth­ers which have earned the En­ergy Star recog­ni­tion. Hanes has been cho­sen for the award for its sus­tained ex­cel­lence in en­ergy con­ser­va­tion, car­bon emis­sions re­duc­tion and en­vi­ron­men­tal sus­tain­abil­ity. The sus­tain­abil­ity re­port re­leased by the com­pany re­cently claimed a 7% in­crease in the use of re­new­able en­ergy; and a 15, 6 and 7% de­cline in car­bon diox­ide emis­sions, en­ergy use and wa­ter use, re­spec­tively. The com­pany now aims to lessen car­bon emis­sions and en­ergy us­age by 40% each and wa­ter us­age by 50% by 2020.
