Ja­panese ap­parel im­ports fall in May

Ja­panese ap­parel im­port saw a sharp fall in May this year. The coun­try im­ported ap­par­els worth US $ 1,996 mil­lion in May, while the im­port value in April was US $ 2,169 mil­lion. Knit­ted ap­parel im­port plunged sig­nif­i­cantly to US $ 913.32 mil­lion as com­pared to US $ 1,015 mil­lion in April month. The down­fall was noted mainly due to the weak­en­ing yen which im­pacted im­port. How­ever, Ja­pan has signed an FTA with EU re­cently which is said to make im­port cheaper from the re­gion in up­com­ing months.

In­dia Ex­ports

Dur­ing the re­view pe­riod, In­dia got a boost in both vol­ume and value of ap­parel ex­ports to Ja­pan by 7.56% and 9.54%, re­spec­tively.

Viet­nam Ex­ports

Viet­nam es­ca­lated in its ap­parel ex­ports to Ja­pan as the coun­try was up by 17.88% in vol­umes, whereas the coun­try got 14.81% boost in ex­port value.

Bangladesh Ex­ports

Bangladesh noted surge in both knit­ted and wo­ven seg­ments. Ap­parel ex­ports to Ja­pan upped by 15.65% in vol­umes and 13.64% in val­ues.

China Ex­ports

China con­tin­ued fall­ing in its ap­parel ex­ports to Ja­pan as vol­umes dipped by (-) 1.46%; val­ues too plunged by (-) 2.76%.
