Ap­parel Tex­tile Sourc­ing Canada: In­dian ex­ports hope­ful of the Cana­dian mar­ket

The third edi­tion of Ap­parel Tex­tile Sourc­ing Canada (ATSC) at Toronto that con­cluded re­cently, proved rea­son­ably good for the In­dian par­tic­i­pants. Nearly 40 In­dian ap­parel ex­porters par­tic­i­pated in the show that saw around 500 in­ter­na­tional ex­hibits from across the globe, with al­most 6,000 vis­i­tors mark­ing the event. Canada, which is nearly 3.97% up com­pared to same pe­riod of last year. It is ex­pected to touch US $ 350 to US $ 400 mil­lion by De­cem­ber 2018. Fa­rooq, Ex­port Man­ager of Chen­nai-based com­pany Sub­barow Ap­par­els told, “We met 10 buy­ers there and gave sam­ples to them. All the buy­ers were small and medium level as their re­quire­ment was for 200 to 300 pieces only.” Sub­barow Ap­par­els of­fers fab­ric as well as ready­made gar­ments and is al­ready work­ing with one Cana­dian client. It was the com­pany’s first ever par­tic­i­pa­tion in any sourc­ing event in Canada and it high­lighted its cot­ton-based gar­ments at the show. An­other In­dian par­tic­i­pant Anand, MD, Dean Tex­tiles Buy­ing Ser­vice, Tirupur shared sim­i­lar opin­ion. He said, “Most of the buy­ers who vis­ited were like on­line sell­ers and asked for small or­der quan­ti­ties.” One more com­pany from In­dia which par­tic­i­pated first time in any Canada-based sourc­ing event was Seer Global, Noida. MD of the com­pany shared his ex­pe­ri­ence and said, “Canada is a good mar­ket and as it was miss­ing from our port­fo­lio, we strongly felt the need to ex­plore this re­gion. Though the buy­ers at the fair were small, I am hope­ful that in fu­ture, we will get buy­ers who can place bulk or­ders also.”
