Print-on-print emerged as the new subtle at Menswear Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019. From Prada’s short shorts and Marni’s Olympian baseball jerseys to the tabloid approved Versace’s one pieces, florals, pin stripes and geometric prints dominated menswear for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2019 season.
Prada’s complex prints include the brand’s archival classical prints whereas, Palm Angels’ sleek patchworked tartan shirts worn under kaleidoscopic knitted bombers signalled a crafty approach. Stella McCartney worked ditsy floral printed patchwork on jackets and T-shirts whilst Dolce & Gabbana went ahead with contemporary graffiti prints juxtaposed against classic religious images for a contrasting effect.
Versace showcased classic baroque inspired prints over silk shirts and clashing red newspaper prints. With hints of acidic neon, the collection played with contrasts, comprising of sheer outerwear and red snake skin.
