Louise Trot­ter be­comes La­coste's first fe­male creative di­rec­tor in 85 years

British de­signer Louise Trot­ter was ap­pointed as the new Creative Di­rec­tor of La­coste, the sports and leisurewear brand fa­mous for its green crocodile logo, re­cently this month. In fact, af­ter a long du­ra­tion of 85 years, La­coste got its first fe­male Creative Di­rec­tor, which was pre­vi­ously held by the Por­tuguese de­signer Felipe Oliveira Bap­tista, who left the com­pany in May.

Trot­ter, 49, was the Creative Di­rec­tor for the British la­bel Joseph till July for nearly a decade. In 2014, she was the lead­ing the charge for a Joseph wom­enswear cat­walk show for the very first time dur­ing Lon­don Fash­ion Week, which gave the multi­brand re­tailer’s own la­bel more author­ity. Presently, Joseph’s own brand is the beat­ing heart of the busi­ness, ac­count­ing for 87 per cent of the com­pany’s global sales in 2015.
