Wood­land plans ex­pand­ing its reach in In­dian Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities

In­dia-based ap­parel and footwear brand, Wood­land, is set to launch 60 bricks-and-mor­tar stores across the coun­try this fi­nan­cial year, as it looks to en­hance its In­dia fran­chise model and on­line pres­ence. The com­pany al­ready op­er­ates more than 600 com­pany-owned stores in the coun­try. Re­port­edly, the re­tailer is tar­get­ing Tier-2 and Tier-3 lo­ca­tions for its ex­pan­sion plans. The brand be­lieves that strength­en­ing its fran­chise model will help to tap cus­tomers in small towns where de­mands are con­stantly in­creas­ing. Fur­ther­more, in a bid to boost its om­nichan­nel plans, it is in­vest­ing in its on­line plat­form, as the on­line sales for the com­pany are ex­pected to ac­count for around 40 per cent of the to­tal sales in the na­tion in the com­ing three to four years. Apart from ex­pand­ing in In­dia, Wood­land is also look­ing at en­ter­ing into more in­ter­na­tional lo­ca­tions in the com­ing time. Harki­rat Singh, MD, Wood­land was quoted as say­ing that, “Wood­land as a brand is al­ready present in China, Aokang and Hong Kong. Apart from this, we are work­ing on strength­en­ing our pres­ence in South-East Asia, West Asia, Europe and US.”
