TEXPROCIL Meets Min­is­ters to Dis­cuss Cot­ton Tex­tile Ex­ports

The Hon’ble Finance Min­is­ter Shri Piyush Goyal and the Hon’ble Tex­tile Min­is­ter Smt Sm­riti Zu­bin Irani held a meet­ing with TEXPROCIL and other Tex­tile Ex­port Pro­mo­tion Coun­cils and As­so­ci­a­tions on 27th May 2018 to dis­cuss is­sues re­lat­ing to mat­ters of tax­a­tion and pro­mo­tional schemes af­fect­ing tex­tile ex­ports. In a state­ment, Shri Ujwal R La­hoti, Chair­man, TEXPROCIL, ex­pressed his sin­cere grat­i­tude to the Hon’ble Min­is­ters of Finance and Tex­tiles for hav­ing pa­tiently lis­tened to the is­sues which are im­pact­ing ex­ports of cot­ton tex­tiles from In­dia.

The Gov­ern­ment was re­quested to sup­port the sec­tor with many use­ful pol­icy mea­sures and also with gen­er­a­tion of cap­tive power, Mandi tax, Duty on elec­tric­ity, Stamp du­ties on ex­port doc­u­ments, etc. and to ex­pe­dite the re­fund of pend­ing GST and IGST claims and ROSL of the ex­porters.

Shri La­hoti pointed out the need for a holis­tic and in­te­grated ap­proach so that all the seg­ments in the value chain like yarn, fab­rics, and made-ups ben­e­fit from the tax in­cen­tives. This will in turn spur higher in­vest­ments and em­ploy­ment gen­er­a­tion, he added. He thanked the Hon’ble Min­is­ters for their proac­tive steps in re­solv­ing is­sues af­fect­ing the ex­ports of cot­ton tex­tiles.
