Chicco to Hike Local Sourcing from India
Italy-based baby care brand Chicco retails fashion, cosmetics and other products with a focus on the mother and child. The brand, which sources products like cosmetics, clothing, and feeding bottles from India, plans to increase its sourcing from the country, especially for fashion and toys. So in the next three or four years, about 35-40 per cent of its Indian revenues may come from domestically manufactured goods. The percentage of locally produced products will rise by 10 per cent.
Chicco retails through over 10,000 points of sale in India. Most of these are multi-brand outlets, but the brand also has exclusive outlets. Over the next three or four years, the brand foresees online sales contributing significantly—up to 15-17 per cent—to its total revenue.
The company is backed by a strong sense of tradition, yet the team constantly looks toward the future to research the most technologically advanced solutions to respond to the needs of mothers and children, both now and in the future.
