GETTING INSPIRED BY THE PAST
Iam concerned that the recent architecture has been tending to be poor cloning of neither contextual nor relevant buildings. Is this leading towards a homogenous architectural future for India?
In this part of 21st century,
India has seen considerable construction activity. Much has been mindless and not relevant. The grim skylines being created across the country are going to stay for very long.
We have a long and sophisticated tradition of building going back thousands of years. I presented beautiful documentation of buildings done by Claude Baitley of old architecture. Indians have been knowledgeable in the art of building for centuries. The misinterpreted Vastu Shastra treatise is proof enough.
I hope we can still get on from here to create beautiful buildings, neighbourhoods and towns in the next few decades. The legacy we leave for the next generations is as important as the ones we have inherited.
