200 Plazas and Counting

It all started in the year 2000, when I, in the capacity of being the Chief Operating Officer, Roads and Bridges, at L& T Infrastructure Development Projects, invited Archohm and two other architectural firms to refurbish about five Toll Plazas on three of our road projects. The difference in the design approach of the architects with others was so stark, novel yet suitable, that I almost thought someone from the inside has helped, which was obviously not the case.
Thereafter, we never went to anybody else – Archohm became my “go- to” architects for all the 45 toll plazas that I was involved in setting up over my 18 years of involvement in the O& M of the road sector in India.
I am, therefore, extremely proud to know that they have designed over 200 built toll plazas in India – what an incredible feat! For a young architecture practice to carve a niche in the rather neglected infrastructure sector in terms of design, speaks volumes of its vision and versitality.
