Fairy Tale Illumination

-

Arttd’inox, the lifestyle brand from the house of Jindals, India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer; and Klove Studio, India’s leading lighting design company famed for their awe- inspiring creations in impeccable hand- blown glass; have joined hands to celebrate the modern- day Alice.

Through Alice, the special capsule collaboration, Arttd’inox and Klove ‘ illuminate’ the persona of a postmodernist Alice, equally pure- spirited and sprightly girl, in the mind- boggling chaos of today’s ‘ real’ world.

The ‘ reincarnated’ Alice is in complete control of her own magic. She has an answer to that ‘ great puzzle’ the question, “Who am I?” Our Alice enjoys her space, expresses herself through it and is not apologetic about how she chooses to celebrate the journey of her life.

The 15 pieces of this collection are sculptural and decorative, a tribute to the mesmerizing harmony between two diametrically opposite elements– tough, durable steel; and fragile, brittle glass. They are also playful, surreal and fun, reviving nostalgic memories of personal favourites— be they characters or objects— in the Alice and Wonderland story. The collection endeavours to showcase the creative application of stainless steel through a wonderful story known the world over. The House of Jindals has always believed in the future of stainless steel in the country, and hence, this collaboration marks another milestone in the brand’s journey to continuously develop not only beautiful products for one’s home, but in strengthening the infi nite possibilities of stainless steel.

The ‘ silvery’ effect of the steel brings to mind the age- old intrigue of Alchemy and its inherent powers of magical transformation. The steel fi nishing, some refl ecting changing tinges of silver, blue and green, are inspired by the changing colour of Alice’s dress; often believed to by symbolic of changing situations and moods in the Wonderland. The use of red reminds us of the Red Queen, her reign of terror and the triumph of the fi rebrand Alice. Red may be the colour of danger, but it is also a primal colour of life, passion, vitality and unapologetic ownership of one’s territory. The rainbow iridescence symbolises Alice’s journey into and out of the Rabbit Hole and her ability to reach the light at the end of the tunnel.
