Beat The Fire

-

The # BeatTheFire seminars held at Trident Nariman Point in Mumbai and at the Lalit Hotel in Delhi by Aludecor brought together many stakeholders of the building industry to discuss at length how buildings can be made safer with respect to fire. The company also used the occasions to introduce Aludecor Firewall A2, the only made- in- India A2 grade metal composite panel having fireproof properties close to pure metals.

The enormity of the fire menace can be gauged from the fact that in the month of February itself, within a span of just nine days, there had been five fire incidents in Delhi- NCR alone. Every year about 22,000 people die due to fire and related causes in India. Fire outbreak is the third biggest risk to business continuity and operations, according to India Risk Survey, 2018. These and many alarming statistics were presented by Aludecor at the seminars.

In the Mumbai seminar Dr Prabhat Rahangdale, Director of Maharashtra Fire Services and Chief Fire Officer, architect Kshitij Limaye, Executive Director of Sankalpan Architecture, architect Rajan Goregaoker, Director of GA Design and architect Rahul Mehta, Senior Associate of PG Patki Architects who was the moderator of the panel

discussion, offered their perspectives on the issue.

The Delhi event was an even bigger one with 10 top industry experts presenting their perspective. It was a 7- member panel for the panel discussion and architect Shamit Manchanda, chief architect of Manchanda Associates and Chairman of the northern chapter of the Indian Institute of Architects, was the moderator.

Architect Charanjit Singh Shah presented a few cases and threw open many burning issues for discussion. Architect Sridhar Rao, the Director of the r+ d studio while shedding light on fire protection in building enclosures said, ‘ people with mobility problems may need assistance and this also must be considered.’

Aludecor plans to organize more # Beat The Fire seminars in other cities as well. Ashok Kumar Bhaiya, the CMD of Aludecor said, “Owing to high urban density, our cities are going to develop more and more vertically. We are going to have more and more high- rises. Buildings will keep becoming taller. Hence, fire safety should be at the top of the agenda today. We at Aludecor are thus trying to get everyone acknowledge this burning issue of fire safety so that we can do everything within our capacity to improve the scenario.”
