A New Sun for the New Normal

-

Studio Roosegaarde recently revealed their latest installation called Urban Sun, that uses far-UVC light which claims to sanitise upto 99.9per cent of coronavirus.

This light, according to the studio, has a lower wavelength and acts as a safe disinfectant. The project in development in no way promises to get rid of the virus, or offers itself as a fool-proof solution to curb its spread. What it does, instead, is reduce the risk of infection outdoors and inspire hope for a better future, where people can meet outside again freely, bravely, safely. Founder, Daan Roosegarde says, “Suddenly our world is filled with plastic barriers and distance stickers, our family reduced to pixels on computer screen. Let’s be the architects of our new normal and create better places to meet.”
