WHAT MAKES LIME BETTER THAN CEMENT?

-

■ Lime offers excellent thermal insulation properties, keeping our buildings cooler or warmer.

■ Acoustic insulation is also a widely acknowledged benefit.

■ Lime is a breathable material. It means that it allows air to pass through it, carrying water in and out of it. It can hold water and release it. This goes a long way in preventing problems like seepage and mold.

■ Lime gains strength with every passing day. Whereas cement loses strength with every passing day.

■ As it sets, Lime reabsorbs the CO2 that was initially generated in its manufacturing, making it a sustainable material to address climate change.

■ Lime is naturally alkaline which allows it to form an antimicrobial surface.

■ I have observed that mosquitoes cannot lay eggs on lime plaster. This is usually not the case in the standard cement constructions in the cities.

■ Lime is totally chemical free, VOC free, and it ensures your building does not suffer from the sick building syndrome. It is the building equivalent of having organic food.
