SKILL AUGMENTATION AND INDUSTRY ALIGNMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION
Indian education sector over the past two decades has undergone tremendous change and has witnessed major growth and rapid expansion. Also, the higher education sector is set for some major changes and developments in the forthcoming years. The Government of India has taken several steps in opening of more IITs and IIMs in many new locations.
To meet the aspirations of youth when India moves towards becoming a global knowledge economy, the Government of India has initiated many steps in augmentation of skill development to train workforce to meet the needs of industry. The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India has launched the Skill Development initiative programmes like
'Kaushal Bharat' to achieve the target of training 400 million citizens by 2022, boasting National Skill Development Mission. Also two new schemes- 'Sankalp' and 'Strive' have been approved by the Government to give thrust to skills. ASSOCHAM in association with Xcelerator organized one day conference on 'Skill Augmentation and Industry Alignment in Higher Education' on August 31, 2018 at ASSOCHAM House, New Delhi. Xcelerator provides skill augmentation platform for higher education which helps academic institutions to modernize their content and transforms delivery methods for better learning outcomes and enhanced industry alignment.
