Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG Coupe launched in India

Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG Coupe has finally entered the Indian roads with a price tag Rs 86.4 Lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new GLE 450 AMG Coupe is the first of 12 new and upgraded models launches that Mercedes-Benz has planned in India in 2016. The German carmaker also plans to add 10 new dealerships across India.

GLE 450 AMG carries an exceptional design language and superior feature offerings, the GLE 450 AMG is currently one of the best luxur y crossover-coupe in the market. The GLE Coupe was first unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show and is set to give tough competition to BMW X6 and Audi Q5 which are the segment leaders. The car is basically a crossover-coupe version of the new 2015 GLE SUV that was launched earlier in India. While it is true that the GLE Coupe comes with an AMG tag, it ’s largely limited to its design and exteriors features, whereas the engine is merely AMG-enhanced.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG Coupe packs 3.0-litre bi-turbo V-6 engine under the hood that is capable of producing a maximum of 362bhp and peak torque of 520 Nm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 9-speed automatic gearbox that claimed to offers greater range of ratios and shor ter steps between gears. The GLE also comes with Mercedes’ signature 4Matic all-wheel-drive system that comes with AMG-specific transfer case with a permanent 40:60 front/rear torque split, for

improved handling dynamics.

The vehicle to be available in 5 colours and comes with a parking package with 360-degree camera including active parking assist. In 2015, the company had unveiled 15 new products and had opened 15 new dealer- ships cum ser vice outlets. The company closed the calendar year 2015 by selling 13,502 units, its highest ever sales in India and a growth of 32% as compared to the previous year thus making it the number one luxur y car maker in India.
