KKR Metal equips to be future-ready for automotive sector
As the room for electric vehicles in India has started opening, KKR Metal Components, a leading manufacturer of components and products for automotive, power transmission, pneumatic, textile, telecommunication and other industrial applications, is equipping its fabrication processes, sheet metals and plastic mouldings for the emerging trends in the automotive industry and its prospective future. It is also making fresh investments to enhance capacity.
“Change is the only thing that never changes. Technological innovation is always good for the society. We have to incorporate variations in our products and in the manufacturing techniques to sustain the dependant families of our workforces. Fabrication is a value-added progression which involves the formation of machines, parts, and structures from various raw materials. However, electric vehicles are reliant on fabrication, sheet metals and plastic mouldings. We welcome the imminent revolution in the automobile industry as it endorses the economic growth in India,” KK Ramesh, Managing Director of KKR Metal Components, told Auto Components India.
The company has acquired a name for itself by supplying products to major domestic OEMs and the global market. He said, “Currently we are supplying our products to Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Ford, and Mitsubishi. As a Tier 2 supplier, we are also providing parts to Delphi TVS, Lucas TVS and Sundaram Fasteners (SFL). Auto transmission parts are being supplied to General Motors which in turn are exported globally.”
Every month KKR Metal exports 15,000 engine parts to Mitsubishi, Japan, and 1 lakh fuel injection parts to Stanadyne, USA. The company also supplies 2 lakh auto transmission parts to General Motors through SFL and 45,000 wiper motors to Lucas TVS. To cater the demand further, KKR Metal is also planning to set up a new line for Sundaram Fasteners at an investment of Rs 40 crore.
“We import aluminium from Thailand where wages and labour productivity are equally high. Aluminium is also imported from Dubai. Initially carbon steel was imported from Japan. Owing to the high cost, we started sourcing it from Pune,” he added.
The firm is dedicated to manufacture and supply high quality and high technology products on time. Quality, cost and delivery are its focus areas. The brand has also implemented BIQS (Built-In Quality System), a tool which upkeeps the
cycle time, production, quality, rejection level and operator performance. This system enables the company to deliver superior quality products in the market.
The company is a prominent manufacturer and supplier of world-class die casting components which have been designed for several industrial applications. The products have been tested for their high tolerance which allow them to function efficiently in adverse conditions. They have perfect finish, high tensile strength and corrosion resistance.
KKR Metal has 3 manufacturing plants to exercise excellence in each segment. Its core products are sleeves, pump covers, shafts, rapid block flange and transmission components for textile industry. The manufacturing plants contain machines which include CNC turning centres, VMC, SPM, induction hardening, close loop CNC, cold chamber high pressure die-casting machines etc. They have measuring equipment like CMM optical gauge, surface finish tester, profile projector roundness tester, metallurgical microscope, crack detector and spectrum analyser.
