Volvo ties up with Uber
VOLVO HAS signed an agreement with Uber to supply them with 24,000 cars capable with autonomous driving capabilities.The deal will be fulfilled between 2019 and 2021, marking a new chapter in the convergence of car manufacturers and silicon valley-based technological companies. The base vehicles are developed on Volvo Cars’ fully modular, in-house developed Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). SPA is one of the most advanced car architectures in the world and is currently used on Volvo Cars’ top-of-the-line 90 series cars as well as on the new XC60 midsize SUV. Volvo will even be using the same base vehicle for the development of its own autonomous vehicle programme, with the first full autonomous planned for release in 2021.
