BMW M5F10

(2011-2016)

-

THIS WAS ANOTHER WATERSHED MOMENT for the M5 dynasty as BMW moved from naturally aspirated engines to turbo-charged ones. For the diehard fans, this was sacreliege as the V10 was replaced by a 4.4-litre V8 twin turbo engine that though produced 560bhp. Despite the extra power, the unlimited top speed of the F10 is believed to be lower than that of the E60 because the F10 is a slightly larger and heavier car. From the great sound of the previous generation car we moved to a car where sound had to be played through the speaker system of the car to add some sense of drama to what is otherwise a decently accomplished overall performer. While there is very little to complain about the car, there are direct comparisons to its predecessor and in that it is slower in the sprint to 100kmph, albeit just by 0.2 seconds. The overall opinion has been that the steering is not as direct and responsive as on the E60 as well. Even though it has a lot of power, and despite being really nice to drive as well, this is my least favourite M5 and that includes the F90 as well.
