Swift sales to commence
MARUTI-SUZUKI finally launched the eagerly awaited new-gen Swift at the 2018 Auto Expo. Prices start at Rs 4.99 lakh, going up to Rs 8.29 lakh, ex-showroom.
The new Swift is 40mm wider, with a 20mm longer wheelbase than the outgoing car. Styling is all-new and top-of-line variants get LED daytime running lights, apart from 16-inch wheels in a different design than the 15-inch wheels on lower variants.
It is based on the new Heartect platform shared with the Baleno and the Dzire. Like the new Dzire, the Swift also gets an all-new cabin, with improved interior space. Infotainment is courtesy an 8-inch touchscreen system with Apple/Android connectivity, making it the first time a touchscreen has been offered on the Swift. Familiar engines power the all-new Swift, with a choice of a 1.2-litre petrol, or 1.3-litre diesel. AMT variants are available for both engines but only on the VXi/ ZXi or VDi/ZDi variants and not the lowest or highest variants. Standard across the range is ABS, EBD and one airbag. Mid and high level variants get two airbags. The standard warranty on offer is for a duration of 2 years or 40,000km.
