KIA woos Indians
Making its much-awaited debut in India, South Korean manufacturer Kia showcased their compact SUV called the SP Concept. Recognising the potential in the Indian market, the production version though will be toned down.
The SUV features a streamlined front end complete with the signature Kia grille. The headlamps are sleek and we particularly like the indicator function. In profile, the SP Concept shows of chunky wheel arches and rather large wheels. Details of the powertrain line were kept under wraps for the time being, but we expect a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel to be offered.
According to the car manufacturer their facility in Andhra Pradesh should be operational by 2019. This also means that the production version of the concept will be launched around end 2019. It will take on the Hyundai Creta, the Renault Duster and the Captur when launched.
WE EXPECT KIA TO OFFER A 1.0-LITRE TURBO PETROL AND A 1.6-LITRE DIESEL VARIANTS BASED ON THE SP CONCEPT’S DESIGN. THE COMPANY SAYS THEIR FACILITY IN ANDHRA PRADESH SHOULD BE OPERATIONAL BY 2019
