Second gen all-electric SUV

IT DELIVERS MIND BLOWING PERFORMANCE WITH 0-100KMPH TIME OF UNDER 8 SECONDS AND A TOP SPEED OF 165KMPH

-

Hyundai’s second all-electric vehicle will be an SUV that is based on the Kona. The Cretasized SUV has gone on sale in developed markets of Europe and North America. However, the Kona SUV may be only for Europe and a sub4m version slated for India, the electric Kona will also be launched in India as was confirmed by the Hyundai management during the Auto Expo 2018. And we are looking forward to a proper on-road electric car for the Indian market. While it will be available with two powertrain options, one a 39kWh battery and another with a 64kWh power source, there is no clarity as yet about which one will be launched in India. It is also uncertain what the price differential will be. However, it is the latter that catches the eye as it delivers mind blowing performance with 0-100kmph time of under 8 seconds and a top speed of over 165kmph. This is with a motor that delivers over 200bhp, putting it in the league of high performance cars for an SUV of small proportions. But best of the figures is the range of just under 500km on a single charge, which means that the Kona in its electric guise can find acceptability in the first car. Besides, it can be fast charged in an hour and a quarter but a full normal charge will take up to 9 hours and 35 minutes. The lower speed variant will go on sale as early as summer this year.

As far as the design is concerned, the Kona electric looks rather normal. There are no out of the world design elements and this helps in it being apt for a everyday car. The sleek headlamps and fog lamp combo looks cool and it’s difficult to ignore the lack of a radiator grille, since the car does not need one.
