Round 2 heads to MMRT in Chennai

-

Saurav Bandyopadhyay, Jeet Jhabakh and Dhruv Mohite came away with top honours. Riding high on the back of victories in both races of round 1, Dhruv Mohite put car number 19 on pole for the first race. Saurav Bandyopadhyay managed to get past Mohite on the very first lap and held on to the lead to take the chequered flag in first position. Anmol Singh Sahil, who qualified third, also managed to get past car number 19 to drive home in second place. Dhruv Mohite finished race in third.

A reverse starting grid for the second race meant that Siddharth Mehdiratta, Tuhid Anwar and Jeet Jhabakh were to start from the top three slots. However, Mehdiratta had to start from the pitlane following a miscommunication with race stewards. Jhabakh piloting car number 5 managed to capita- lise on this confusion taking the race win followed by Anmol Sing Sahil and Saurav Bandopadhyay. The two traded places quite a few times during the course of the race, but Anmol Singh Sahil emerged on top ultimately.

For the third race, the grid positions were decided by the second best-best qualifying times achieved by drivers on Friday. Bandopadhyay had his Ameo on pole, followed by Mohite and Anmol. Mohite got a better start jumping Bandopadhyay into the race lead and held on to it to take victory in the final race of round 2. A first lap tangle between Anuranjan Velmurugan and Arefeen Ahmed saw the deployment of the safety car. Jhabakh drove through the grid to grab second place followed by Anmol Singh Sahil. He had an impressive weekend reaching the podium in every race.
