SAFETY IS often a prime concern for the informed buyer. That is perhaps the reason why more and more carmakers are standardising safety features like airbags in newer cars. In keeping with the trend, Tata Motors announced that the recently-launched Nexon has been certified with a 4-star rating by Global NCAP. According to Global NCAP, the Nexon achieved the highest adult safety score (13.56/17.00) amongst all the models tested across the Indian market. With this ‘Level Nex’ performance, the car has also received high rating for ‘Child Protection.’ So what makes Nexon safe? According to the company, the energy-absorbing body structure with high-strength steel construction and critical reinforcements effectively absorb the impact energy and provide a stable load-path for protecting the passenger compartment from deformation. For driver and passenger safety, the Nexon has dual-frontal airbags and seat belts with pre-tensioner, load-limiter and crash-locking tongue which prevents the uncontrolled forward movement.
