THE FUTURE of automobiles looks all-electric. Along with Audi’s electric sports car concept, fellow German carmaker Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Vision EQ Silver Arrow. The oneseater pays homage to the successful record-breaking W125 car from 1937. Even the paintwork in alubeam silver is reminiscent of the historic Silver Arrows that didn’t have a white paint layer to reduce weight. There are 168 spokes per wheel made of lightweight aluminium and are painted in rose gold wrapped with slick 255/25 R24 section tyres in the front and 305/25 R26 in the rear. The EQ Silver Arrow has a single seat tucked under a canopy. There is saddle brown genuine leather on the seat and steering wheel, polished aluminium throughout the interior and solid walnut with darker coniferous wood pinstripes on the floor coupled with a digital cockpit which includes a curved panoramic screen with back projection and a touchscreen integrated into the steering wheel. Being an electric car, the Silver Arrow is noiseless but sound settings can be configured. Choices include the sound of a current Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 car or a Mercedes-AMG V8 engine. The concept has an output of 750bhp. The rechargeable battery located in the underbody has a capacity of around 80kWh and enables a range of over 400km.
