The month of August each year turns out to be a demanding one for the team Auto Today because it involves prep and execution of ideas for the mammoth anniversary issue. And how does that relate to the Ntorq you ask? That’s because inevitably, every August our Long Term fleet sees little mileage on the odo but never mind that. I made most of the little opportunities I got with the scooter this month and here’s what stood out. This time round I would like to talk about the brakes. The NTorq comes with 220mm disc brakes up front and 130mm drums at the back. Scooters in general are known to be skittish under hard braking but the NTorq is a far cry from that. The calipers leach on to the discs hard and as a result the scoot is easy to a haul in. At the same time it does not lose out on stability. Also the rear brakes offer generous bite and the rear end does not skid outwards. This is what makes the NTorq highly stable in all weather conditions. Another important aspect of the NTorq that I’ve noticed relates to the fuel gauge and tank. The digital display on the NTorq consists of multiple bars. Unlike others where the needle or the bars remain pinned to full for a considerable distance, the one on the NTorq starts dropping fast. However, this does not affect the efficiency. My understanding is that the float on the tank is positioned neutrally and this results in real time and more accurate readings. It is sort of a perception that the range is low thanks to the fuel gauge dropping. But that is not the case, atleast on the this scooter. Additionally, the NTorq is being dropped off for its first service. So expect a full report in the next issue. Stay tuned.

IT REMAINED STABLE UNDER HARD BRAKING. MYTH THAT SCOOTS ARE UNSTABLE WAS PROVED FALSE
