TVS Ntorq

Auto Today - - Dashboard -

The Ntorq has been in the Auto Today garage for some time now, and while we know that scooters are Rahul’s forte, I was surprised that he handed over the key to me knowing about my limited interest in two-wheelers. But, being an automotive journalist, you will always find yourself doing things that you’ve never done before, so I was game to try this little scooter. Now, I haven’t been able to put in some serious kilometres, so I will write down my first impression from the limited time that I’ve spent with it. Starting with the look of the scooter, the matte yellow colour really stands out and will definitely give you lots of eye-balls on road. While I don’t prefer yellow myself, it works really well with the Ntorq and adds to its overall look. The lines are bold and and makes up for a good-looking scooter. The switches are placed well within reach, but the mirrors don’t match up to the overall design. The seating is good enough for one, but you will ask for more space once the rear seat gets occupied. The next thumbs up is for the ever-energetic engine that just loves to scream when you rev. You don’t see a 125cc scooter with such a loud mouth, but this has worked in favour of the company. I also loved the instrument panel and the fact that it connects to Bluetooth is just impressive. Gone are the days when you have to constantly check the phone while riding, as the SmartXonnect app displays navigation, caller ID, last parked location and also your daily ride stats. But I’ve had difficulty connecting to it the last couple of times. I’m not sure the reason behind it, but I will definitely look into. That’s all from my initial impression of the Ntroq and I’ll put in some kilometres to it in my next report. Do follow our long term reports in the coming issues.
