The return of the Katana and more
Back in 1981, Suzuki showcased the Katana and now in 2018, the legend stands resurrected. The good news is that it still remains to be unmistakably the Katana as far as the design is concerned. Modern touches have been added which include LED blinkers, a modern TFT LCD instrument panel, LED tail lights and so on. Powering the 2019 Suzuki Katana is a 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine. In the Katana, it is tuned to produce 147bhp@10,000rpm and 105Nm of peak torque at 9,500rpm. The motor is mated to a 6-speed manual and features a slipper clutch. There is a three-level traction control system which can be turned off too. Fullyadjustable KYB 43 mm USD forks up front and a monoshock at the back take care of suspension duties.
Suzuki has also announced a number of updates to its acclaimed GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R. For 2019 the GSXR1000R gets an adjustable swingarm pivot and stainless steel braided hoses for enhanced braking performance. The bidirectional quickshifter and auto-blipper that forms part of the GSX-R1000R’s comprehensive electronics package is now a standard item on the 2019 GSX-R1000. Both machines come on the latest Bridgestone RS11 tyres.
THE KATANA IS BACK IN 2018 AND BOY IT SURE LOOKS RAVISHING. THE DESIGN IS INSPIRED FROM THE OLDER VERSION BUT IS MODERN IN EVERY OTHER WAY
