-

THE MMSC MRF VW Ameo Cup 2018 season ended with the final round at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. Enough action was witnessed as Dhruv Mohite from Kolhapur with ample points in hand, won the Ameo Cup title. The first race was quite chaotic, as guest driver Dhruv Behl, Pratik Sonawane and Mohite battled it out with him in the first set of corners. Sonawane, who set a blistering lap time the day earlier, and Mohite clashed while heading into turn 5, allowing Behl to take the lead. Race officials were forced to wave yellow flags as another driver ran wide into the gravel at turn 3. This meant the drivers crossed the line under yellow flags, making Behl the winner of Race 1 while Pratik crossed the finish line at P2 while Sourav Bandhopadhay took the last step on the podium.

The second race kicked off with Jeet Jhabakh in the lead, followed by Mohite and Anmol Singh. In the second lap, Tauhid Anwar and Akshay Bhivshet spun off in the first corner bringing out the safety car however, it returned to the pits after two laps and the drivers got on to race pace. Singh didn’t give up till the end and made his move on Affan on the last lap to clinch the final spot on the podium. Although Mohite finished second in the race, he gained sufficient points to win the title.
