OS7 – Rebooted infotainment

-

The new infotainment system that now runs BMW’s OS7 has also added to the quantum leap for the X5. The new system integrates the touchscreen control display in the centre, the display in the instrument panel and the heads-up display with the new iDrive, gesture control, voice control and of course touch control. Not only is it easy to use, it is very intuitive, customisable and has multiple ways to operate. The main infotainment screen now is fully customisable and now the menu on the home screen can be spread to across ten pages. If you choose to play music, then it can now be heard through 20 speakers of the 1500-watt-output Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround System. Incase one chooses, there is a factory fitted system for the screen to be positioned and plugged in to charge or linked to the infotainment system of the car. I felt the system is much more usable now and one does not have to rely on the iDrive controller for giving in the commands. The touchscreen is not only bigger but its layout has been totally changed to make it more usable.
