Merc drives in updated CLS
MERCEDES-BENZ India launched the third generation CLS in India at a price of Rs. 84.7 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new generation CLS will take on the likes of Audi A7 and BMW 6 GT. The new coupe look extremely sleek in its design and will most certainly get all the attention once on road. The four-door coupe retains the sloping roofline, frameless door while the Multibeam LED headlamps and a new grille design differentiate it from its predecessor. At the back, the CLS gets the distinctive coupe tail lamp cluster with horizontal set tail lamps and a short stubby boot. It also gets a set of split 5-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels. At the heart of the new CLS is a BS-VI CLS300 version, which is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 242bhp and 500Nm coupled to 9-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The CLS can go from standstill to 100kmph in 6.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 250kmph.
