My last report of the RR310 talked about the 600km run to Jaipur and back. In which, I discovered small imperfections in the braking department. Mind you, the braking unit itself isn’t lacking in any way as the 300mm front and 240mm rear petal discs function fine with controlled stopping distances and moderate feedback. The design of the levers themselves and rear ABS sensitivity were my areas of complaint.

The ergonomics were my second cause of concern. The city runs were comfortable, irrespective of the traffic as short distances on the saddle never hinted at any discomfort. Out on the highway, things were a bit different. The riding position is midway between a fully committed sport riding posture and a slightly comfort oriented stance. That works in the city but starts stressing the upper back and knees over distances. This was possibly amplified as I was riding in straight highways devoid of corners; then again, out on Nepal’s twisty mountain roads I did feel the need for a more committed riding position. The third is the engine. Vibrations aside, this engine remains gruff overall. It is surely capable of powerful acceleration and impressive top speed but refinement and smoothness has been varying depending on ambient conditions. For example, the engine ran smoother during the night (thus cooler ambient air temperatures) ride to Jaipur but coming back during the day, the engine felt rough.

Eight months on and the TVS will be exiting our long term motorcycle test fleet. We haven’t logged as many kilometres as we would have liked to nevertheless, we did enjoy some of our time aboard it. The styling works wonders for the motorcycle, giving it solid road presence while the suspension is possibly the best in class. We wish refinement levels could be upped with controlled vibrations.
