The Ertiga has caught up the fancy of many team members and the reason behind it is the versatile nature of this MPV. There is ample seating space when needed. Then when the seats are not needed, one has the choice of folding them up and turning the Ertiga into a cargo mover. Overall this nature of this MPV has kept team members buzzing around for the keys. But one of the most interesting things about the Ertiga is the level of refinement it offers. Our long term car is powered by the K15B Smart Hybrid petrol engine which is extremely smooth at idle. It also comes with a start/stop system to further boost efficiency. To be honest, the system is rather sensitive and shuts down the car sooner than I would have prefered. However the start up is quick too. Just a touch of the clutch is enough to get the engine fired up. One can also opt to switch the system off by clicking a button provided on the dash panel. The motor offers 103bhp and that is enough to offer grunt. It actually is enough to sit at 120kmph all day long if not for the irritating buzzer which comes alive at this speed. The engine also offers generous torque and this means that it does have the capability to pull through in higher gears. The clutch is light too and even after driving the car in city traffic, there is very little tiredness involved. This light to drive feature us what draws us towards the Ertiga. Most importantly just as we were going into the press, we were informed by Maruti Suzuki that 61,000 units of Next Gen Ertiga have been sold since its launch in November 2018. That’s mega since this segment was till date dominated by a much larger MPV.
