With temperatures soaring well past the 40 deg C mark, the Captur’s air conditioning was put through a strenuous test. Its effectiveness was fairly satisfactory. However, it did struggle to cool the cabin after being parked in the sun for a while. Also, the placement of the vents is such that if you angle them even slightly towards the driver then the aircon just ends up freezing your hands. As premium as the leatherette seat covers and leather wrapped steering look, they can get extremely hot if parked directly under the sun for long durations. I would honestly have preferred fabric seats over these and perhaps in a darker shade since the light beige tends to stain quite easily. That is actually something Renault changed for the MY2019 edition replacing the launch model’s beige seats with black leatherette ones. Sticking with the seats, the ones in the front are very comfortable and have the right contours to hold you in place. The cushioning is spot on and there’s enough thigh support on offer. That’s part of the reason why the Captur has been such a great companion over long haul trips. The only people who will have something to complain about vis a vis the front seats are taller individuals, 6ft and above. Even with the seat set to its lowest height, tall people will find their heads uncomfortably close to the roof. The rear seats too offer ample comfort with decent back and thigh support. Knee room, however, is just about adequate. As per our tests, the Captur offers lesser knee room than the Creta, but slightly more than the Nissan Kicks.
