Perhaps the most awaited car at this year’s expo was the Jimny and not some fancy concept. This little SUV is something which enthusiasts have been waiting for in

India and Maruti Suzuki had brought it to test the waters. We spoke to the officials and they have given us a lot of hope as well. So what is the Jimny all about?

The fourth-gen Jimny sticks to the body-on-frame construction and features compact dimensions and a light weight body. Inside the Jimny can seat four. The rear passengers though have to climb in through the front doors only. The dash is also a simple thing and comes with a touchscreen infotainment system. The Jimny comes powered by Suzuki’s K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is the same unit that powers the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz in India. Manual and automatics are also available in global markets.

The Jimny is all about simplicity and quirkyness. The ladder frame chassis gives it ruggedness and a high ground clearance and short overhangs add to the off road ability. We also love the overall design especially those bug eye headlamps
