The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is a very practical car, and whether or not it comes under the ‘Mini SUV’ category, we cannot deny the fact that it rides higher, offers ample space and is one of the better prospects to opt for in the given segment. Putting that aside, what we would like to discuss is the right variant for you. The S-Presso comes only with a BS-VI compliant, 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 68bhp and 90Nm of peak torque, coupled with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT option. It is available in total of four variants- Std, LXi, VXi and VXi+. The prices for these variants range between Rs 3.69 lakh- Rs 4.91 lakh (all prices ex showroom, India).
Now the base variant is very basic and doesn’t offer much for the price. The VXi trim offers the best mix of value, such as- air conditioning, power steering, sun visor, remote central locking, speed sensitive door locks, 2DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, a 12-volt accessory socket, front power windows, body coloured bumpers and wheel covers for the larger 14-inch steel wheels. We drive the VXi+ trim that gets front passenger airbags, body coloured wing mirrors and door handles, internally adjustable wing mirrors, steering mounting audio controls and the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility among other features from the VXi trim. The VXi AMT offers all the aforementioned features with the convenience of Maruti’s AGS or the AMT which makes city driving a breeze.
